In ''[[Super Mario World]]'', the story begins with Princess Toadstool vacationing with Mario and Luigi to [[Dinosaur Land]]. For the first time since the Japanese ''Super Mario Bros. 2'', the catalyst of Mario and Luigi's journey is from Bowser kidnapping Princess Toadstool and holding her captive at Bowser's Castle, now located in the [[Valley of Bowser]].

During the final battle against Bowser, Toadstool is trapped in the [[Koopa Clown Car]] as Bowser moves it around. She helps Mario or Luigi by throwing [[Super Mushroom]]s at them during the battle. After Bowser is defeated, Toadstool is rescued by Mario or Luigi, whom she rewards with a kiss.
