During the [[Adventure Tours mode]] of the Nintendo DS version, he joins forces with [[Sonic]] to save the Snow Spirits from Bowser and Dr. Eggman after they capture them to melt all the snow so they can make their own Winter Games. Some events in which Mario participates include Speed Skating, Alpine Skiing, and Snowboarding.
